Description
Gremlin Cottage is a cottage that likely has a core dating from the 17th century, which was rebuilt in the 18th century. It features plastered cob on rubble footings and has a cob or rubble stack with a plastered 20th-century brick chimney shaft, topped with a thatched roof. The cottage has a one-room plan and faces north, with the stack projecting from the right (west) end. It is two storeys high and has two late 19th-century or 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor and one on the first floor, with the left ground floor window likely replacing a former door. The wall plate is visible under the eaves. The roof is continuous with the adjoining Wayside cottage on the left and is half-hipped on the right. The current door is located at the right end. The interior displays plain 18th-century details. Gremlin Cottage was once connected to the adjoining Wayside. The roof has not been inspected. Coleford is noted for being a remarkably unspoilt and picturesque hamlet.
