Description

Park House Lodge is an early to mid-19th century lodge, originally serving Park House, and now used as a small house. It is constructed of snecked volcanic stone, partially plastered, with a stone and brick stack and a slate and asbestos slate roof. The building consists of a two-room cottage facing north, comprising a gable-ended main range with a west end stack and a single-storey, left-hand (east) section with a hipped roof set at right angles to the main block. The symmetrical two-window front of the main block is set behind a three-bay verandah, with an ashlar base supporting slender cast iron stanchions. A central four-panel door is located behind a 20th-century glass-sided porch. The windows are 3-light designs with moulded mullions, glazing bars, and margin panes. A similar two-light window is found in the side of the projecting left end. The roof is low-pitched, and it features a relatively tall brick chimney shaft. The lodge is included on the list for its group value.
