Description
Tuckingmill Bridge is a road bridge over the River Yeo, likely built in the late 18th century, with a 19th-century parapet. It is constructed from local mudstone rubble, featuring granite ashlar coping, although most of this has been replaced with 20th-century concrete. The main structure has two round-headed arches with plain vaults that spring from a slightly projecting plinth to the abutments and cutwater. On the north-west side, which faces Zeal Monachorum Village, there is a smaller segmental arch designed to accommodate floodwaters. The cutwater is pointed at both ends and rises to a flat top just below the level of the parapet. The parapet itself projects slightly on both sides and appears somewhat untidy, indicating it may be a later addition. There are terminal piers that project slightly on the north-west end only, while at the opposite end, the parapet curves outwards on both sides. The roadway slopes from the north-west to the south-east.
