Description
The former stable block, now used as accommodation, was built in 1871, likely by John Hayward. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and features a gable end slate roof. The building has an L-shaped layout, which was originally part of a courtyard that has since been significantly altered. The short limb of the range includes a tower topped with a Rhenish cap and a stone clock face dated 1871. The coping is corbelled, and there is an external stack on the right-hand side. On the first floor, there is a 2-light window, while the carriage entrance has been blocked and replaced with a 2-light stone window. The longer limb of the building is now a single-storey range of accommodation that once housed horse boxes and a tack room. It features two half dormers; one has heavy stone coping, and the other has overhanging bargeboarded gables, both with 2-light windows that served the former grooms' quarters. There are also two doors, one of which is set in a re-used vehicle entrance.
