Description
The Turner headstone, located approximately 14 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Andrew, dates from around 1815 and commemorates the children of James and Ann Turner. Made of limestone, this upright slab stands about 1.6 metres high. It features various styles of serif upper and lower case lettering, recording the deaths of Edward Turner, who died at 7 weeks in 1806, John Turner, who died at 9 years in 1813, and Richard Turner, who died at 1 year in 1815. The headstone has a recessed shaped panel at the top that includes a carved bas relief cherub, and at the bottom, there is a poetic epithet.
