Description
The stables, located approximately 12 metres north of Burrow Farmhouse, date from the late 19th century. They are constructed from local chert rubble with larger dressed quoins and feature a slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, with both wings facing into the stable yard. The larger north wing includes a tall gateway and houses the tack room, with haylofts situated above the stables.
On the exterior, the west wing features three round-headed doorways with narrow slit windows in between. The hayloft above this wing is open-fronted. The adjoining part of the north wing, to the left of the gateway, continues in the same style with two round-headed doorways. The roof rises over the gateway, and there are doors on each side along with a hayloft loading hatch to the left. The right end of this wing is designated as the tack room, and the roof is gable-ended.
Inside, the stables have plain carpentry details and a roof supported by queen post trusses.
