Description
The outer court of farm buildings, located approximately 25 metres north-east of Bury Barton Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century and around 1860. The buildings are primarily constructed of rubble, with some cob on rubble footings, and feature slate roofs. This complex consists of three ranges that enclose a farm courtyard. The north range of the inner courtyard includes a 17th-century porch on its southern side. The eastern range, which adjoins the inner court, is a 7-bay linhay from circa 1860 and has a full-height carriageway. The north range is a 9-bay early 19th-century linhay, while the west range is an 8-bay linhay from circa 1860, featuring a cob and rubble-walled store at its northern end, with the southern end abutting the outer side of the inner court. The early 19th-century structures are taller than those built around 1860. All linhays are open-fronted into the courtyard and supported by full-height timber posts (Alcock's Type T1). The north range includes a rear loading hatch for haylofts and has a scissor-braced king post roof. The east range features collared A-frame and king post trusses, while the west range has tie beam king post trusses.
