Description
Three adjoining houses, likely dating from the mid to late 18th century or possibly earlier. The walls are of roughcast cob, with an asbestos slate roof, originally thatched. The rear, axial, and end stacks have brick shafts. A projecting stack on the right-hand end has a dismantled shaft. The houses are arranged in a single depth, incorporating service rooms within two-storey rear lean-tos.
The front has a 3:2:2-bay facade. Number 2 has a four-panel front door within a doorcase featuring pilasters and a shallow hood. A ground-floor window on the left is a pair of hornless 12-pane sashes. The other windows are 18th or early 19th century 2- and 3-light casements with six panes per light. Number 3 features a half-glazed 20th-century door to the right, and two 2-light casements with six panes per light in the left-hand bay. Number 4 has a 20th-century half-glazed front door and similar windows to Number 3, with one window above the front door and one to the ground floor right. The interior was not inspected but may contain features of interest. These are a row of vernacular cottages. Number 1, which was formerly the Horse and Jockey Public House, was destroyed by fire after 1972.
