Description
A terrace of three houses, likely built in the 1820s, situated in Blagdon. The houses are constructed with roughcast rendering, have slate roofs with lead rolls, and feature axial and end stacks with brick shafts, brick bands, and old pots. Each house follows a two-room plan with a central entrance, and service rooms are located in a rear lean-to.
The front elevation is symmetrical, with a 3:3:3 bay arrangement. The hipped roof has deep eaves supported by paired moulded brackets. Pilasters, dividing the houses and marking the ends of the terrace, feature egg and dart moulding and incised anthemion decoration at the top. Original sunk panel decoration to the pilasters is mostly filled in, but one original panel remains on the left return of the first house. The central front doors are framed by doorcases composed of pilasters with sunk, moulded panels, topped with entablatures and deep cornices. The original six-panel doors retain geometrically patterned overlights with margin panes; however, the first house’s overlight has been replaced with two panes. Each house has a pair of twelve-pane sash windows on the ground floor and three on the first floor. A lean-to conservatory has been added to the front of the first house. A two-storey rear lean-to extends with a catslide roof. Low stone-coped walls enclose the front gardens and are included within the listing.
The interior has not been inspected, but may retain features of interest.
