Description
The churchyard boundary walls are located approximately 4 metres east and 18 metres north-east of the chancel of the Church of St Peter in Zeal Monachorum. These cob walls, dating from the 18th or 19th century, originally enclosed part of the rectory garden until 1939. They are made of plastered cob on rubble footings, with tile coping, although the north wall features ridge tiles. The two tall cob walls surround the eastern section of the graveyard on the north and south sides. A slate plaque on the inside edge of the northern wall notes that this plot was a gift from the Rev. E.H. Smith in 1939. The boundary walls are part of an attractive group of listed items in the village centre.
