Description
The market booths located west of the Market Hall in Tiverton are a range of detached structures, likely built between 1830 and 1831, and they are contemporary with the Market Hall. There have been alterations made in the late 19th century or early 20th century. The booths are constructed from brick and cast iron, topped with a natural slate roof. This 26-bay range is positioned on the west side of the Market Hall, facing it.
The exterior features simple single-storey booths supported by slender cast-iron columns with clustered shafts and decorative moulded capitals and bases that resemble those of the main Market Hall. These columns hold up a moulded timber wall-plate and simple A-frame timber trusses. The 13 bays at the south end have a taller roofline and have been infilled for various uses. The interior has not been inspected. The market booths hold group value with the Market Hall.
