Description
30 to 35 Southernhay East is an early 19th-century small terrace of houses, representing the simplest form of typical Southernhay West architecture. The buildings feature round-headed and recessed ground floor windows, standard round-headed patent stone doorways, each adorned with a different keystone head. They have six-panel doors with panelled reveals and sash windows with glazing bars. The terrace is topped with a slate roof. Nos 30, 31, 32, and 34 were severely damaged by fire on May 4, 1942, but the outer walls remain intact and have been rebuilt behind the existing facade. This group of buildings is part of a larger collection that includes Nos 15 to 28, Nos 30 to 36, Nos 38 to 40, the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and Nos 45, 46, and 52.
