Description
Priory Cottage is a house built around 1800, located on a corner site at The Mint. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with header bond at the corner, and the left side is painted and rendered. The house features a gabled slate roof and cast iron rainwater goods.
The building has a one-room wide and one-room deep plan, heated by a chimneystack at the rear. The front elevation is one bay wide, three storeys high, and gabled. All openings have flat brick arches. To the right, there is a panelled door with fielded panels, and to the left, a 3 over 3-pane sash window with louvred shutters. Similar windows are located above, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. The return side has one window on the ground floor and one on the second floor.
The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest. Priory Cottage holds a prominent position in relation to other buildings in The Mint, contributing to the area's group value.
