Description
This is a pair of early 19th-century townhouses located in The Mint. They are built with mass wall construction, now painted and rendered, and have a slate roof. Number 17 has a hipped roof to the left end, and a brick chimneyshaft with some pots remaining. Number 18 has a rendered axial stack. Cast iron rainwater goods are present on number 17 only.
The houses have a 2:1-bay front with eavesboards. Number 17 features a platband at second floor level. The windows are 12-pane sashes with flat arches; the ground and first floor windows of number 17 are missing their glazing bars. The doorcase, with panelled reveals, pilasters and entablature, incorporates the entrances to both houses. Number 17 has a half-glazed door with two vertical panels and a rectangular overlight with geometric glazing bars. Number 18 has a five-panel door, the top two panels glazed, and a rectangular overlight. The interiors have not been inspected, but may retain features of interest. The houses are part of a terrace row.
