Description

Markwell House is an early 18th-century building in Lower Shapter Street, Topsham, altered in the 19th century. It is a three-storey, three-window structure rendered in a smooth finish. The windows are 19th-century sash windows, and there is a projecting bay. A prominent Tuscan doorcase features fluted pilasters and a pediment, sheltering a six-panel door with fielded panels to the reveals. The building has a coved cornice and a tarred slate roof. Markwell House is part of a group of listed buildings along Lower Shapter Street.
