Description
Shapter House is a house built around the 1840s, likely a reconstruction of a 17th-century house. It has mass wall construction with roughcast on the ground floor and stucco on the first floor. Painted Dutch brick is visible on the left side, while the right side features red brick. The house has a slate roof and rendered chimney shafts with bands, with one round chimney pot remaining. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.
The house has a double depth plan and is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a three-window front. A stucco band runs between the ground and first floors. The entrance is almost central and recessed, with a six-panel door and a rectangular overlight that has one vertical glazing bar. To the left, there is an eight-pane hornless sash window, and to the right, a twelve-pane hornless sash window. On the first floor, there are three twelve-pane hornless sash windows, and a gabled attic dormer is present.
The interior has not been inspected but may have interesting features.
