Description

A stucco terrace of five houses dating from around 1820 to 1830, located on Alphington Street. The houses are three storeys high with two windows each. The ground floor is rusticated. Each house has a round-headed doorway with a plain reveal, a fanlight, and a mask keystone. The first floor features cast iron balconies, with one balcony having a canopy. Number 6 has round-headed French casements, incorporating a stylised Corinthian order. The houses have sash windows with glazing bars. A key pattern frieze runs along the façade, and the roof is slate. Hampden Place is historically linked with Sydney Place and Sydney House as a group.
