Description

This is an early 19th-century terrace of three red brick houses, numbered 1 to 3 Sydney Place, located on Alphington Street. The houses are of the "Nosworthy" type and stand three stories high with a one-story wing at each end. A break-forward between numbers 1 and 2 suggests that the terrace was originally intended to be longer. A modillion cornice runs along the top of the building. The doorways are round-headed with vermiculated quoins and keystones, reminiscent of those found in Southernhay. The ground floor glazing bars have been removed, and some shutters remain. Tall first-floor sash windows are adorned with iron balconies. The entrances feature six-panel doors with panelled reveals and honeysuckle fanlights. The roof is not visible. Sydney Place, Hampden Place, and Sydney House form a group of buildings of group value.
