Description
The Chapel at Digby Hospital is a Grade II listed building constructed between 1882 and 1886, possibly designed by architect R Stark Williamson. It features red brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. The chapel consists of a nave and chancel under a single roof ridge, with a liturgical west end Narthex porch, a north side aisle, a south side porch, and a bellcote. The architecture showcases High Victorian Gothic style with decorative details. The west gable includes a battlemented Narthex porch and a four-light west window with intricate tracery. The nave has three two-light windows on the south side, while the chancel features two lancet windows on the south side. The south porch is notably detailed, with a gable that rises through four blank lancets to create a pair of arched openings for the bellcote, topped with a saddleback stone roof. Inside, the north side arcade has an open trussed roof, and there is original stone and wooden joinery furniture.
