Description

The water tower in the grounds of Digby Hospital is a brick structure built around 1885-1886, likely designed by R. Stark Wilkinson, the architect of the hospital. It is made of red brick and features moulded brick classical details. The tower has a rectangular shape with rounded corners and consists of four sides, each with six bays of arcades. These arcades are adorned with rubbed brick round arches, pilasters, moulded imposts, and a plinth. The cornices and coping project forward at the pilasters, which extend into the parapet. The open arcades create aisles around the central core of the building, supported by transverse arches.
