Description
Wear House, also known as Exeter Country Club, is a 19th-century stucco mansion, likely built by Sir John Duckworth after he acquired the property in 1804. The building features a three-storey central block with seven windows and two-storey side wings with two windows each. The front of the house includes a Doric portico with a driveway beneath it, while the garden side showcases a three-bay Ionic portico. There is also a brick stable court that includes a weatherboarded clock tower topped with an octagonal cupola.
Inside, the mansion boasts a fine double stone staircase with an iron balustrade. The Entrance Hall, which is in the Doric order, has been divided by a glazed screen.
