Description

Tinsley's Cafe, located in Cathedral Yard, was built in 1825 when Broadgate was demolished. The front of the building is rendered and stands four storeys high with six windows arranged along a curved line, featuring bands at each level. It has a notable 19th-century curved shop frontage, with sash windows, some of which have glazing bars and casements. The roof is not visible due to a parapet. The back part of the building retains elements of a 17th-century timber-framed house that previously occupied the site. Internally, the remains of the Close wall can be seen on the ground and first floors, which include two medieval arches. Tinsley's Cafe, along with the other listed buildings in Cathedral Yard and Nos 1 and 2 Deanery Place, form a cohesive group.
