Description
The linhay located immediately north-west of Ivington Farmhouse is a Grade II listed structure built in 1846 by the Garretts of Bishop's Court as part of a planned farmstead. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a dry slate roof, which has a gabled end on the left and is hipped on the right. The building consists of 8 bays, with brick piers separating the linhays and timber posts above the bays of the tallet. To the left, there is a wagon entrance that connects the main farmyard to the rear yard, all under a continuous roof that links to the end of the bank barn. Some bays have breezeblock and corrugated infill, but this has not compromised the original 1846 structure. The roof includes a tie beam and two diagonal struts for each truss. The only alteration to this otherwise complete and well-preserved planned farmhouse is the demolition of a pigsty that was situated between the linhay and the farmhouse.
