Description
Red Lodge is a mid-19th century building that served as one of the former lodges to Winslade Park. It is constructed from dressed Heavitree stone and features a slate roof, with the central block having a hipped design and the wings ending in gables. The building has a cross-shaped plan with a single storey and includes a central block of rooms that are heated by an axial stack with a brick shaft. The corners of the building are accentuated with pilaster quoins that are battered at the base and topped with capitals. The eaves overhang, and the gable ends of the wings display exposed rafters, with the gable walls projecting to align with the quoins. Most faces of the building have 2-light casement windows, although the casements are from the 20th century. The main doorway, located on the west side, features a chamfered stone surround.
