Description
This cottage, part of a row, was remodeled in the 19th century from an earlier house. It features plastered cob on stone footings and a pantiled roof. Although it may have originally been part of a larger house, it now stands as a single unit with the main room to the right of the entrance and stair hall. The cottage is two storeys high, with a front that has one window range. It includes a full gabled dormer that is tile-hung, featuring a late 20th-century two-light casement window, and a two-light casement window on the first floor. The ground floor has a round-headed doorway with a moulded tympanum to the left and a decorative Gothick two-light casement window to the right, where the glazing bars create two arches with margin panes. The cottage is well grouped with No. 29 and Myrtle Cottage, which were remodeled at the same time. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is mentioned briefly in N W Alcock's work, 'Houses in an East Devon Parish'.
