Description
Ivington Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in 1846 as part of the planned Home Farm of the Garretts of Bishop's Court. It is constructed of brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped slate roof with lead rolls at the hips and ridge, along with overhanging eaves. The house has a double-depth plan, with the main rooms located on either side of the front entrance and service rooms at the rear facing the farmyard buildings. It is two storeys tall.
The front of the house is symmetrical with three bays; the central bay projects slightly and has a separate gable. There is a porch with an open pediment that features a round-headed doorway with a keystone. The first-floor windows are of two lights, with early 20th-century casements set under depressed window arches. The side bays have two-light casement windows on the ground floor, also with depressed window arches and keystones, but these casements are from the late 20th century. A small single-light late 20th-century window has been inserted to the right of the porch.
The rear of the house is irregular, featuring three two-light 19th-century casement windows on the first floor, along with an additional single-light 20th-century window. There are two doors and three windows on the ground floor. Ivington Farmhouse is part of a well-preserved planned farmstead, all dating from the same period.
