Description

This is a 17th-century cottage with a later extension at the north end, originally a service area, forming a three-unit plan with a former crosspassage. The cottage is two storeys high and constructed from slate and flint rubble, partly rendered above a plinth on the front and sides. It has a corrugated iron roof with a central rendered stack. Modern windows and doors have been installed. The roof structure comprises three jointed cruck trusses, side-pegged, and threaded purlins. Two brigand fireplaces are present, featuring stone jambs and timber lintels, in the joint parlour and hall/kitchen. A plank and mullion partition separates the former passage from the dairy at the north end.
