Description
The south gate, gate posts, and adjoining boundary wall of the Church of St. Michael were likely built around 1875. The wall is constructed of red conglomerate stone rubble topped with black machine-brick coping. The angle piers and gate posts are made of red conglomerate ashlar, with the angle piers featuring red sandstone ashlar caps and the gate posts having Hamstone caps. The central gateway is set within a recess, flanked by quadrant walls that curve out to meet the angle piers and the main front boundary walls. Both the angle piers and gate posts have moulded caps, with the gate posts adorned with a band of four-leaf decoration. The original panelled timber double gates remain in place, complete with contemporary ferramenta.
