Description
The Town House, including a conservatory, dates from around 1840 to 1850 and is located on the west side of Station Road. This two-storey building is constructed of red brick with yellow brick dressings, and the sides and rear are painted. It has an L-shaped plan with a half hipped slate roof and a gable end slate roof on the wing. The eaves fascia features a trefoil pattern, and the gable ends have similar bargeboards.
The front facing Station Road has two windows, with recessed marginal glazed sashes on a sill course at the first floor and recessed sashes with glazing bars on the ground floor. Venetian shutters are present. The wing contains one sash window facing the road and two at the rear, all retaining their glazing bars. The original lean-to conservatory has three windows at the front and two on the side, each consisting of five narrow pivoted lights.
The Town House is part of a group that includes Gwydir Cottage, Cypress House, Nos 1 and 2 Cypress Place, and Milestones, along with Larbi Cote on the opposite side of Station Road.
