Description
Eglantine is an early 19th-century villa located on Seafield Road. This two-storey building features a gable end roof covered in diamond-patterned slate. The exterior is stuccoed, with an ornamental cut edge along the fascia board and bargeboards. A verandah supported by two slender iron columns leads to a first-floor trellis balcony topped with a tent roof. The first floor has two French windows, while the ground floor includes a two-light casement window and a single light casement window, the latter adorned with a Gothic fanlight. The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels, two of which are glazed. There is a lower two-storey extension with a small gable that has similar bargeboards and one two-light casement window on each floor. The building is noted for its picturesque appearance. Eglantine, along with the Littlecourt Hotel, Seafield, and Seacourt, forms a cohesive group of structures.
