Description

Lower Abbey Farmhouse is an 18th or 19th century house that includes medieval remains from the Cistercian Abbey of Newenham, which was founded in 1246. The building is constructed of stone rubble and features a tiled roof with gabled ends. It has two storeys and a long four-window range, with modern metal-frame casements. There is a modern porch located to the left of the centre and two brick chimney stacks at the ridge. A wing at the rear creates a T-shaped plan.

Inside, the east wall has a chamfered stone door frame, and the north wall contains a reset stone corbel. The house likely incorporates what was once the west range of the Abbey.
