Description
The granary, located 15 metres south-west of Ivington Farmhouse, is a detached structure built in 1846 by the Garretts of Bishop's Court as part of the Home Farm. It is made of red brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped dry slate roof with lead rolls at the ridge and hip. The granary is a rectangular two-storey building, with the ground floor open at the front and rear, showcasing three elliptical arches. The arches on the sides are partially blocked with breezeblock and timber infill, which has not affected the original 1840s structure. There is a trap door in the centre of the ground floor ceiling. The first floor, which serves as the granary proper, is slightly recessed and has central loft access, along with an oculus on either side above the outer ground floor arches. Notably, the side walls of both storeys do not have any openings. This granary is an attractive centerpiece of a complete and well-preserved farmstead from the 1840s.
