Description

Rose Cottage is an early to mid-18th-century building, possibly incorporating an earlier structure. It is situated at right angles to the road, constructed of rough cast stone with rendered flanking strips and a rendered frieze. The roof is of low pitch slate, with bracketed eaves. The cottage has four windows: the first-floor windows are small, with two-light wooden casements and marginal glazing; the ground-floor window to the left is a three-light wooden casement, all set in stone surrounds. A modern gabled porch replaces a previous trellis porch. Rose Cottage forms a group with the adjacent property, "Grassmere".
