Description
Alma Terrace is a small red brick terrace built in the mid-1850s, located on Coburg Road. The central pair of houses, Nos 2 and 3, are three storeys tall with one window each, while Nos 1 and 4 are two storeys high with symmetrical fronts featuring three windows. The terrace has low pitch gable end slate roofs and projecting eaves with fretted boards. The windows are recessed, featuring two-light casements with marginal glazing and ogee arched upper panes, all topped with stucco hood-moulds.
Nos 1 and 4 each have central porches supported by iron columns, with fretted boards below a shallow cornice and tent roofs that have fleur-de-lis finials against the wall. The porch of No 4 has been enclosed with side lights. Nos 2 and 3 also have porches on iron columns, which include fretted boards and a frieze decorated with rosettes and a cornice, topped by distinctive scrolled pediments.
Alma Terrace, along with its garden walls and Alma Cottage, forms a cohesive group.
