Description
"Grassmere" is a mid-19th century building located on Station Road. It is two storeys high and features a stucco facade set on a plinth, with a moulded string course separating the storeys. The gable end roof is covered with slate and has plain bargeboards with scrolled ends, as well as overhanging eaves that include decorated guttering.
The front of the building has three windows, with recessed sash windows on the first floor that have later glazing, moulded sills, and cornices supported by consoles. The ground floor includes two shallow canted bays with stucco bases, sash lights, decorated friezes, and moulded cornices. The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is flanked by sidelights with panels below, topped with a rectangular fanlight. The doorway is framed by a shouldered architrave surround and features a scrolled open pediment.
"Grassmere" and Rose Cottage together form a group.
