Description

Norton Garth is a late 18th or early 19th century building, originally of red brick with a symmetrical four-window facade. It is set at a right angle to the road and has a gable end slate roof and a stone-coped parapet. The ground floor windows are round headed and set within shallow arched recesses, with a stone band linking them at the impost level. These windows have original sash glazing bars. A wide, peaked-roof porch, which has been restored, features double doors with four panels, round-headed glazed ends, and a semi-circular radial glazed fanlight. Rear extensions, incorporating modern glazing bar sashes, now connect Norton Garth to Belgrave Cottage, which together have been converted into a block of flats. Norton Garth and Belgrave Cottage are considered to form a group.
