Description

South Combe Farmhouse is a small farmhouse, likely dating to the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble, with a circa 17th century white-washed rubble wing at the rear, forming an L-shaped plan. The house has a thatched roof with half-hipped ends. It is two storeys high, with a three-window front. The windows include a four-light moulded wooden mullion window, along with later casement windows. A plank door leads to a cross passage located to the left of centre, and is sheltered by a thatched porch. The chimney stacks have been rebuilt in brick, positioned at the ridge and ends. The west end of the house has been faced in concrete blocks. The rear wing is single storey and attic, with a gable-ended thatched roof and an eyebrow dormer window. Inside, a fireplace backs onto the cross passage, and the ceilings feature stopped chamfer spine beams with run-out stops.
