Description
Upexe House is a house from the 18th century, constructed from a mix of stone and cob, rendered, with a gabled end. The front roof features preserved slates, while the rear is covered with asbestos slates. The house has a three-room, cross-passage layout, with the main entrance located to the left of center. There are two external end stacks and the building stands two storeys tall.
The front facade has a four-window range, with two-light casements above that have six panes per light, set under blind housings. The porch has been rebuilt and features Tuscan columns and pilasters, along with a moulded canopy and a panelled door. On the ground floor, there are three sash French windows, each with four panes, framed by Tuscan fluted pilaster architraves. A pilaster has been added to the right end of the front, while the left end is obscured by climbing plants. There are also rear extensions from the 20th century.
Inside, Upexe House boasts a well-preserved 18th-century interior, including an early 18th-century dog-leg staircase with turned balusters. The end chimneypieces have bolection moulded surrounds and 19th-century grates. The internal doors feature fielded panels and HL hinges.
