Description

The stables and coach house block, located approximately 4 metres south of Netherton Hall, dates from the mid-19th century, although some parts may be older. The structure is primarily made of plastered local stone and flint rubble with brick dressings, while a section of the back wall is constructed from brick on stone rubble footings. The front of the building is plastered and features a red scallop-shaped tile roof.

The layout consists of a single block that faces northwest towards the house and backs onto the lane, with the coach house on the left and the stables on the right. The exterior includes three wide coach house doorways with segmental arch heads on the right end, and three stable doorways with overlights on the left. The right stable doorway has a single plain 19th-century window to its right, while the other stable doorways are flanked by windows. The roof is gable-ended, and a louvred lantern rises from the ridge, topped with a wrought iron weather vane.

Inside, the space is open to a 19th-century roof featuring king post tie beam trusses. The stables are part of a group with Netherton Hall and other houses, contributing to the charm of the hamlet of Farway.
