Description
SY 19 NE FARWAY FARWAY
Stables and coach house block 3/89 approximately 4 metres south of - Netherton Hall GV II Stables and coach house block. Mid C19 although parts maybe earlier. Most is plastered local stone and flint rubble with brick dressings, although a section of the back wall is brick on stone rubble footings, the front is plastered; red scallop-shaped tile roof. Plan: coach house and stables in a single block facing north-west towards the house and backing onto the lane. The coach houses are to left and stables to right. Exterior: at the right end are 3 wide coach house doorways with segmental arch heads. To left are 3 stable doorways with overlights. The right one of these has a single plain C19 joinery detail window to right but the others are flanked by windows. The roof is gable-ended and in the centre a louvred lantern rises from the ridge. It is surmounted by a wrought iron weather vane. Interior: is open to C19 roof of king post tie beam trusses. The stables form part of a group with Netherton Hall and the other houses which make up the attractive hamlet of Farway.
