Description
Oak View is a cottage built in the mid-19th century. It features exposed local stone and flint rubble with Beerstone ashlar quoins, and has stone rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick. The cottage has a slate roof and a two-room plan that faces southeast, with a central entrance hall that contains the main staircase between the two rooms, each having a gable-end stack. There is an integral lean-to outshot on the left (southwest) end and additional outshots along the rear. The house is two storeys tall.
The exterior has a symmetrical three-window front with original casements that include glazing bars. The ground floor windows have low segmental arches. The central front doorway features its original part-glazed six-panel door, and there is a late 19th to early 20th-century gabled porch in front. The main roof is gable-ended. Although the interior was not inspected, the owner states that it contains a significant amount of original joinery and other details. Oak View is part of a group of attractive listed buildings in the hamlet of Farway.
