Description
The stables and coach house, located about 10 metres north of Lyngford House, date from around 1840 and are currently disused. They are built from squared and coursed red sandstone with Bath stone dressings, featuring quoins around all openings. The roofs are slate with coped verges, and there is a brick stack to the right of the central gable end on the coach house. The structure is in an L-shape, with the coach house facing south and the stable block to the west.
The coach house is a single storey with a south bay and a central gabled bay that is highlighted by quoins, kneelers, and a circular light in the gable end. It has Tudor arch-headed openings, including a many-paned window on the left, an inserted centre, and a doorless opening on the right. The stable block has six bays, all featuring Tudor arch-headed openings. The left side has a square-headed double door with stone infill above in three bays, while the right bays have inset Tudor arch heads and many-paned windows. There is also a narrower doorway flanked by a many-paned light above, although the door is damaged. The building was noted to be in poor condition at the time of survey in March 1984.
