Description

Studhayes is a farmhouse dating to around the 16th century, originally constructed of stone rubble. The front facade was later altered in the 18th century with the addition of red brick, featuring flared brick headers and a stringcourse. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and has gabled ends. The house is two storeys high with a four-window front. The windows are casements with three panes of glass, each set within a rubbed flat brick arch with a keystone. A similar arch surrounds the doorway, which is positioned slightly to the left and features a 20th-century glazed door. Brick chimney stacks are located at the ridge and gable ends. The interior includes jointed cruck trusses, cut away at the front where the eaves have been raised. A cross passage is present, divided by plank and muntin screens. The ceiling features stopped and chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
