Description
Newlands Cottages is a house dating from around the 16th century, with an early 19th-century extension. It is constructed from whitewashed stone rubble and features a thatched roof with gabled ends and eyebrow dormers. The west end has a lower-pitched slate roof. The building is positioned at right angles to the road and has two storeys along with one storey and an attic, featuring a five-window range with small modern casements. There is a stone rubble stack at the ridge and a brick chimney stack at the gable end facing the road. A lean-to at the rear encloses a semi-circular area. Inside, the house has jointed cruck trusses and a central chimney with a chamfered bressumer and jambs, as well as stopped chamfered ceiling beams.
