Description

This is a group of terraced buildings at 12-18 West End, Westbury. The core of the buildings dates to the 17th century, but they were substantially renewed in the 18th century. The buildings are two storeys high and appear to be timber-framed, although much of the timber framing is hidden behind rendering. Number 12 features decorative cement pilaster strips, a band across the ground floor, and window dressings. Numbers 16 and 18 are paired, with projecting side sections and shared doorways that have raised surrounds. The roofs are tiled and have three ridge chimneys. Most of the windows are late 19th-century sash windows, although Number 14 has an additional window above the doorway and a two-light casement window on the first floor. Numbers 12 and 18 have modern doors, while numbers 14 and 16 have six-panel doors with moulded detail. Number 12 has a large letter "B" in a cement key above the door. The interior of Number 16 is notable for its arrangement of spine and cross beams on the ground floor, constructed from oak with Tudor or early 17th-century mouldings.
