Description

The Palladian Bridge is a Grade I listed bridge located in Stourton with Gasper, built in 1762 for Henry Hoare. The design is based on Leoni's The Architecture of Palladio, Book III, published in 1721. Constructed from limestone, the bridge features five segmental arches with rusticated voussoirs and dropped keystones. It has cutwaters on both sides, a plain parapet with a pitched coping, and square end piers. This bridge is an important visual element in the view of the lake from Stourton High Street.
