Description

The Casino, built around 1757-1762, is an early work by architect Sir William Chambers. It features a small tetrastyle portico with a pediment, set on a wider balustraded and rusticated basement. This striking structure is located on a hill behind Washern Grange. The building is constructed of ashlar with a brick lining. The basement includes a central entrance flanked by niches, while the upper part is accessed by balustraded stairs on the east side. A central architrave doorway leads to the picnic room, with side windows that have balustraded panels below.
