Description

Dating to circa 1857, Nos 2 and 3 Adcroft Street form a pair of buildings at the end of a two-storey terrace. Each property has two windows. Number 2 has a creeper-covered facade. The buildings are constructed of ashlar, with the ground floor being draughted. Dividing piers separate the two houses, and there is a plinth, a band at first-floor level, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course; Number 2 has a more modern, stone-faced concrete blocking course. Number 2 has a slate roof, while Number 3 has double Roman tiles. Number 2 features modern casement windows, whereas Number 3 has late-glazed sash windows with marginal glazing. Each building has a doorway to the side, constructed with pilasters and a cornice. Nos 1 to 13 (consec), the centre block of the District Hospital, and Nos 16 to 29 (consec) form a group.
