Description
Nos 16 and 17 on Adcroft Street date from around 1857 and are a two-storey pair that continue the terrace with Nos 18-29. They are slightly taller and feature a parapet. The buildings are constructed of painted ashlar and include a plinth, a band over the ground floor, a narrow cornice, and a blocking course. The double roman tiled roof has two ridge chimneys. Each house has one window on the ground floor, with No 16 featuring late glazed sashes and No 17 having modern casements. There are plain doors to the left, with scrolled brackets supporting the cornices. To the left of No 17, there is a small segmental-headed throughway arch. The rear has raking top dormers. Nos 1 to 13, the central block of the District Hospital, and Nos 16 to 29 form a group.
