Description

Brook Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating to the 18th or 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with ashlar window and door surrounds, and has a stone slate roof. The original, central portion comprises two storeys and an attic, with three bays. To the right, the farmhouse is extended by one bay, and has a single-storey and attic element, as well as a brick extension to the left. The central entrance features a boarded door within a moulded stone doorcase, which has a stepped hoodmould and flanking slit lights. Contemporary three-light stone mullioned windows are also fitted with label moulds. There are two hipped dormers and a gable stack on the right side. A dormer is present on the right extension, which has a rear gable, and a two-bay brew/bakehouse projecting from the gable with a projecting oven. A two-storey wing is located to the rear of the main building, connected by a later link, and is accompanied by a further tiled outbuilding with external steps. The interior reveals moulded ceiling beams and close-studded walls in the central stair hall and the room to the right.
