Description

The Old Manor House is a manor house built in 1613 for Roger Pinckney, possibly incorporating earlier work. It was restored in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of flint with limestone dressings and features two storeys and an attic. It has an 'L'-shaped plan that includes a three-bay range with a central hall, a drawing room to the west, and a dining room in the forward wing on the left. The entrance is located in the re-entrant angle and consists of a six-panelled door. The house has two and three-light stone-mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, although the first-floor windows were replaced in the 19th century, and canted bay windows were added to the ground floor of the north and west gables. The gables are coped, and there is a datestone on the north gable that reads "1613 RP." The stack features five diagonally set shafts.

Inside, the ground floor has been altered. There is a dog-leg stair in a recess off the hall, located between the kitchen and dining room. This stair is early 17th century and has two turned balusters for each bracketed tread, along with fluted stanchions. The first floor is subdivided into bedrooms by various types of 17th-century panelling. The roof has straight wind braces only to the central truss.
